Mental Illness in the Workplace

Anxiety disorders and depression are the most common mental health issues in the workplace. People suffering from mental health issues may look and appear less confident. Will be unable to concentrate and worry about losing their job due to not be able to do it well. Early recognition of mental health issues can increase productivity and efficiency in the workplace. In addition, providing accommodations to those affected can increase employee loyalty and retention.

Accommodations don’t need to accrue more expenses for the Company. Simple accommodations such as a small pay cut and allowing an employee to work less days per week than normal can provide them time, support and space to seek additional help to pull themselves out of the mire they find themselves in. A safe and supportive workplace is a productive and efficient workplace.
