| Community |
| |
| ASL believes that active community participation is a key part of being a
good corporate citizen. To that end, our support for various causes are
driven by community need as well as directed by our employees. |

Charitable Donations |
|
Our program of employee-directed annual cash donations to Charitable
Organizations provides a rotating basis for support of various worthy Organizations.
Each year employees update or provide new recommendations for Charitable
Organizations that should be supported. At the end of each year, an Organization is selected
at random that meets certain requirements. These requirements include devoting a large
proportion of their funds to direct services as opposed to administration and Organizations with
great National or International reach thereby impacting the lives of large numbers of people.
In the past, we have supported organizations like The Canadian Red Cross and most recently UNICEF.
For organizations in Canada to qualify for our donations they must be a registered Not-For-Profit
Organization. Organizations in the USA must comply with current IRS regulations. All other
international Organizations must have a similar Not-For-Profit designation. ASL does not make
donations to Organizations that promote religious principles, political platforms and those
that practice illegal or discriminatory measures. Our Charitable Donations program is conducted
at the sole discretion of the company.

Co-op Education |
|
ASL has supported Co-op Education in Canada for many years by providing new Canadians and others
new to the workforce with valuable work experience. Participants in the Co-op program are provided
with office space, computers, access to ASL resources, expense reimbursement and are guided by senior
employees as the participants discover what it means to obtain "Canadian Work Experience" and what
the world of work is like in their field of study. ASL provides reviews of the participants'
performance and communicates this feedback to the appropriate Co-op Education body. |

Support for HR Education |
|
Our support for continuing education for HR students and Professionals alike is a key part
of our commitment to the field of HR. We believe that by ensuring that students and others
are aware of the latest best practices, methodologies, systems, tools and techniques, they will be able to play
a larger and more important role as strategic partners in business. This knowledge will add to
their competencies and professionalism and assist them in their pursuit of excellence in HR. |

Not-For-Profit Program |
|
Our Not-For-Profit Program allows us to support Organizations that provide a service or product
in return for donations or those that hold annual events. In the past we have supported
Organizations such as Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), The Hospital For Sick Children
Foundation and Kingston General Hospital Women's Auxillary by purchasing products and services provided by these Organizations
and by providing ASL merchandise for their use. In addition, our employees actively volunteer in events such as the
Variety Village Kids Telethon and annual walkathons for The Canadian Cancer Society.
